The Right to Rule
Written on Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at 6:10 am | by cocoyWho has the right to rule? I found an interesting bit of blog that said, “Leadership is never given, it’s taken“. True enough.
I recently asked a question, about what kind of leader would you like. Rather unscientific, but I got mixed answers: visionary w/balls, a few posts messaged to me via plurk, saying, it doesn’t matter— we got to focus on making money, some even suggested a mixture of personalities.
For the longest time, I had thought that merely focusing all your energy into business is the right track. Simply ignoring the big fat white elephant in the room is good enough reason. Individually and even in small groups we got no power to change the world. that’s true enough. Our disgust is so strong, it leaves a stench. But a part of me believes, if we continue to simply go with the flow, to simply let others dictate the game, we Filipinos deserve the country we got.
I’ve been hearing from the grapevine who are interested in running. 2010 is right around the corner. SO now, I got me a question for you, who would you pick to run and why?

In this day and age, RP needs a leader: young enough to understand what it takes to succeed in a flat and networked world but at the same time old enough to have a connection and understanding of Philippine history.
Kinda like Brown, Sarkozy, and maybe Obama.
I will go for Mar Roxas.
I would say that the Philippines need a leader that is not afraid to institute changes in government no matter what the cost is, to re-align the government bureaucracy in such a way that accountability is clearly defined. And to find a lasting resolution to our problem not just patching things up for the next 6 years. Someone with foresight….
I am still undecided between Villar and Roxas, also depending on who is their running mate. I normally vote both the prexy and veep from one party.
