Written on Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 at 8:46 am | by benign0Just wanted to bump back the issue of soaring rice prices back into the collective awareness. Actually, we have that to contend with and NOW mounting threats on the quality of our marine resources. We are now facing a possible environmental hazard of toxic proportions in light of the discovery that dangerous chemicals are most probably ROUTINELY transported on ill-equipped vessels across the waters of the archipelago.
It’s like Filipinos have the opposite of the Midas Touch. Everything we lay our hands on, turns to crap. Yet our taste for gold does not seem to diminish in any way. We just find unsustainable means. to acquire more of it.
Our latest video…

(The further adventures of Juan)
…puts a lighthearted spin on how we routinely get rude awakenings to problems that have been percolating for decades underneath the radar of our atrophied collective awareness, and how we seem to be eternally clueless about how our adherence to archaic no-results traditions and belief systems eat away at our society’s health from within like a cancer.
