Philippine Issues Writing Project Week 3 and Week 4
Written on Friday, June 13th, 2008 at 7:03 pm | by NickThese past two weeks we’ve seen 4 entries into The Philippine Issues Writing Project. As an update, please visit the main project page, and please note that the new deadline is June 27. Some have not joined because they thought that the project has ended.
Also, I would like to thank Susan Toots Ople for donating a wonderful book, an anthology, you can read more about it at the Prize Page.
The following are the entries for Week 3 and Week 4.
1. Calvin wrote, an eye opening piece, “Si Nanay“. The issue, the casualness of how some Filipinos throw garbage and keep their surroundings like their own garbage can. The issue is that of how we Filipinos contribute to the messy environment around us. A must read.
2. Totomai wrote, “Plight“, an article on the conundrum that many OFWs face, as they struggle with the love for their nation, or a prosperous and higher paying life, outside of The Philippines. A plight indeed.
3. Rina wrote, “Renewables Now“, writing on the need for renewable energy, and the greater issue of environment, energy need, and energy use.
4. Mica wrote about “SPED schools in The Philippines“. Mica is proof positive that you can make an impact as you bring your advocacy online. This is also a must read, a touching look at how love can move anyone towards a greater good and an advocacy for the betterment of society.
