Casual Meeting With Senator Mar Roxas
Written on Friday, August 1st, 2008 at 7:36 am | by NickDear writers and contributors, please RSVP regarding your attendance later tonight for a casual meeting with Senator Mar Roxas. I’ve only received six replies and two confirmations so far. Need to know who will be going. Topics to be discussed will be The State of The Nation Address (SONA 2008) of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, VAT, and other issues of the day. This is an intimate session with the senator, blogger’s only, I hope we can further the discussion on the issues even if we’re not supporters of The Senator, it’s a great opportunity to open the line of communications.
So, please RSVP, hopefully someone can Video Blog the session too. Any volunteers welcome..

Hi Nick, sending my regretful apologies…
Btw, if I may, I only have one question to Mar (which hopefully someone can relay if I may be humoured):
Please outline in precise terms in 3-5 points what he proposes to do differently if given the power.
It’s a question we should be asking EVERY politician.
Thanks!
Thank you Benigno, that’s a good question that I will have to relay..
I hope others will have a few more questions, I’ll try to bundle them up and send them directly to The Senator’s consultant who is organizing this meetup.
Will be there, Nick. Among others it would be interesting to know how Mar feels about the recent Pulse Asia survey, including his own ‘numbers’, and Senator Villar’s.
Nick,
As I’ve stated in my email, I won’t be able to attend. What I do want to be answered, though, is what his policy will be regarding population and the reproductive health law. I hope someone can relay that question as well.
Thanks for the invite Nick, i’ve sent my RSVP via email.
One question i would have liked to ask is, given that his family is among the Oligarchs of Philippine Society, how does he feel about the need to address the issue of inequality in the distribution of property and wealth? In other words, in his view, what role, if any, do the Oligarchs have in transforming the Philippines into a more equal society? If he can cite concrete proposals, then so much the better.
Nick, I hope to see you later. This is a great opportunity for me to finally meet you and the other bloggers of Filipino Voices. And of course, it would be an honor to meet Sen Mar Roxas. Sakto rin dahil I’m only in Manila till next week. Hope to see you all there. Kahit yong mga “galit” sa mga politico, sama na rin kayo para lang magkita-kita tayo hehe.
Cheers,
Lester
@Lester, good to know that you are going.. I will set up an open post later with all the questions that have been submitted to me, if possible, since there is wifi over there, please list the answers in the comment portion of that post.
Note: I won’t be attending myself, I’m still out of the country..
Nick:
I sent my RSVP, although I have to do a Cinderella moment ‘coz i have to leave early. Sorry for the sched mix-ups, this has been one of the worst weeks ever for me.
marck
Don’t forget to have your group picture taken. (Nick that includes you
Who are those who will attend?
@Jon,
Looks like it’s going to be
1. Ding G.
2. Jennifer Llarena (JenJen)
3. Marck
4. Lester
And Noemi Dado (Butch’s wife)
According to Carlo (Senator’s New Media Consultant) around 10 to 12 others will be there for the intimate session..
Just imagine all the questions we could ask with those kind of numbers..
I’ll be posting later the questions that have been submitted to me, hopefully they will be answered..
