Blogswarm To Stop Sulpicio Lines July 4 and 5

Written on Thursday, July 3rd, 2008 at 6:36 pm | by Nick

As Sulpicio Lines has put business above humanity, insensitivity above compassion, and money over human lives, I want to make sure that the word rings out clear, that we want this company to cease to exist. I have lost a cousin out of this tragedy, and The Philippines has lost thousands of lives because of Sulpicio Lines. I hope we can raise awareness and be united in our anger towards this despicable company.

I am proposing, as a blogger, a blogswarm to put an end to Sulpicio Lines. A Blogswarm to Stop Sulpicio Lines. This blogswarm is for the closure of Sulpicio Lines, the proper compensation of the victims and their families (not just a measly P200k), the imprisonment of those responsible, including the officials of Sulpicio Lines. We must stop this company!

A BLOGSWARM is where bloggers comment and write on one topic at the same time, in order to bring the topic or news to a broader awareness and discussion.

The blogswarm will be July 4-5. On both days, we would like all bloggers to write a post or an article declaring their support for the closure of SULPICIO LINES for the major role that this company had in the Ferry Tragedy that has cost us hundreds of lives. Please leave a comment if you are going to participate.

I would like to offer the following image for the blogswarm, but you are welcome to create and share your own image.

This madness must stop, their insensitivity to the families as they try to deflect the blame on everyone else except themselves is just too much.

When a company has racked up the deaths of thousands of innocent Filipinos, the time must come when they should start paying for their actions.

This is a start my dear friends, more to come, but let us take a stand on this.

JULY 4 TO JULY 5 (FRIDAY AND SATURDAY) make a post about stopping Sulpicio Lines, put up the banner above or create your own, and let us take a stand for the victims who can no longer speak.

Leave a comment here so we can link to those who will participate.

I’m in. But as I said before: We must aim not just for closure but prosecution and IMPRISONMENT of key executives and everyone else accountable.

I am with everyone else. I want the company closed and shut down and those responsible for this terrible tragedy brought to justice. I don’t live in the Philippines, but my wife’s family does. And they have a very close friend who lost her life in this horrible tragedy. Too many inocent lives have been lost for the world to set idle and allow this to happen again…and it will if this company is allowed to remain in operation.

MY SUPPORT TO THE FULLEST, SHUT SULPICIO DOWN AND HAVE THEM PROSECUTED! THE LAST THING THE FILIPINO PEOPLE NEED IS CORRUPTION,CARELESSNESS,GREED MONGERS, AND JUST PAIN DESRESPECT AND LACK OF SAFETY AND PRIORITY FOR THEIR PEOPLE OVER AND OVER AGAIN! THEY NEED PEOPLE THEY CAN DEPEND ON AND I WISH I HAD THE MONEY TO BUILD AND TRAIN THEM A NEW MARIIME PASSENGER FERRY LINE. COMBINING CARGO AND PASSENGERS IS VERY DANGEROUS
PLUS IT CAUSES CORRUPTION AND WHAT IS PRIORITY ON THE VESSEL. CARGO ALSO CAN SHIFT AND BE TOXIC JUST TO NAME A FEW.

OH YEAH OFFERING THESE PEOPLE MONEY TO COMPENSATE FOR THEY’RE LOSS OF FAMILY IS JUST SO CRUEL!

I can sense that my boss from high above was wants me to prepare myself for a trip to the Philippines to fetch some batches of young/young adult souls sooner or later as a bargain price for the lucrative and heretic acts of one chinese-filipino clan whom made the souls of some of the innocent, poor, and meek Filipino people drowned on the sea.

I could hear their plead and agony upon bringing them to another world. Well that’s life. Death as a normal word for me sometimes contains one philosophy aside from destiny and accident….

Punish the family who owns Sulpicio Lines. Confiscate their properties until the very last cent and give to the families of victims.

But this will never suffice the pain of loosing someone just because of the arrogance of few and greedy people.

    JUSTICE! JUSTICE! JUSTICE! JUSTICE!

GOD SAVE THE PHILIPPINES by bringing up a good and true christian LEADERS!

Hey what happened to this tragedy?

I CAN’T FEEL the punishment of the government for the sinners..

  27. K.B. Laurienne on August 21st, 2008 12:41 am

Better late than never-I am a U.S. citizen but a friend of mine here lost his brother, sister in law and nieces, the youngest is 16 months, in this tragedy. What they are going through, as the family is still missing, is inexcusable. What they have yet to go through when they are found, is inexcusable. I have written to our government, every human rights advocate available all the way up to the U.N. SLI should be out of business for good. They have proven that not only are they not able to transport human beings safely, they had no contingency plans for cargo mishaps. Little or no action appears to have been taken by the government or embassy in the Philippines. The Philippine government should declare the site of the sinking as a crime scene to facilitate the recovery of bodies and serve justice and punishment to whom it is due, and take SLI out of business. This is the appropriate action to take and should be explored immediately. It is an outrage that any family should have to take such measures to recover their loved ones from any set of circumstances, much less such a horrifically morbid tragedy.
Arroyo, et al, appears to have been absolutely unwilling to step in to override SLI or even charge them with fault. They have been given full control of the situation and have dragged their feet at every opportunity. This is an enormous travesty of justice to the victims and their families, and a blatant disregard for human life in general regardless of citizenship. For their government not to intervene thereby prolonging the agony, makes this irreprehensible and a crime in itself by retaining the remains of these victims in a floating mausoleum, whereby destroying forensic evidence. For the sake of humanity, the priority MUST be to expedite the recovery of the bodies. Now.
In this case, I feel the government in the Philippines, and of course Sulpicio Lines, has crossed the line into gross negligence and blatant disregard for human life, and in this case several deeply loved Filipino-American lives are among the missing. I do recognize that the U.S. initially sent the Reagan in to help, but it was kept at bay because of the nuclear capacity. Unfortunately, in turning away our ship, they also turned away cranes, air support, sonar, countless engineering aids, supplies, etc. and I do not know if our government was yet aware of our citizens who had been on the manifest. I know that my government would never leave a boat full of bodies and chemicals sit for any length of time. Certainly, whether it were a Carnival ship off of Bermuda or the U.S.S. Badger out in Lake Michigan, this would never be allowed to happen. Where’s the media coverage to show the rest of the world that this is still going on??? I’ve implored them all to pick up this story to no avail.

k.b, i suggest you urge the filipino people to make gma a dictator. then we can judge her on that basis. even cory aquino, as president, failed to bring all the alleged conspirators in the killing of her husband to justice. did she not?
