A Political Warlord as Peacemaker

Erap’s nemesis, estranged kumpadre LuisChavit Singson ‘Chavit’ Singson is wearing a new hat.

The ‘durable’ Ilocano political warlord is President Arroyo’s official family as deputy national security adviser, apparently having forgotten his earlier threat to break away from GMA after the Estrada pardon.

So now, beyond juust monitoring the revenue from the tobacco excise tax and ‘keeping watch ‘ against jueteng and smuggling activities in his political turf,  Singson will now try his hand at advising Mrs. Arroyo on how to best respond to threats against national security.

The eyebrows are raised and suspicious looks are cast towards Mr. Singson, but Chavit simply dismisses his critics as green-eyed monsters.

How Chavit wields his new-found powers, and influence, will determine if this latest exercise of presidential prerogative will serve the public welfare.

It’s a cynical set up for another run at #24 or #25 in the 2010 Senate race. But I think he may run afoul of the Senate and the AMLC before he gets to the starting gate. It’ll be interesting to see how he mixes with all those Democratic Socialists in the National Security establishment. He’ll have to take them on a tour of Metro Walk!

Thanks for mentioning Metro Walk. You might want to be a bit more specific and cite the Home Depot, DJB, and what talk there is about what happens to those who cross a former guv.

Such is our society that those who thrive are best described as netherworld biggies. It is more galling to witness how these same characters walk the corridors of power.

    DJB,
Since we both graduated from LSGH( ako hs lang).Did you know that Chavit’s son have one of the teachers beaten black and blue, that was way back in 1986.Anak pa ng assitant principal yung pinagulpi ng anak nya.

Metro Walk,Home depot lang ba yung sa kanya dun?

Grabe, sobrang kagaguhan na talaga to appoint a criminal as head of the internal spy network.

Singson is a violent man! Come to Ilocos and peacefully dissent with the Singson Clan. Before the bagnet has even finished cooking, his goons will beat you black and blue.

A traitor for the National Security Adviser post, and a self confessed jueteng operator as a deputy. Really, a sure fire way putting back the trust of the people in government. Nice legacy small lady!
